The Explosive Weapons Monitor tracks harm to civilians from the use of explosive weapons across the globe. This includes civilian death and injury, as well as the damage and destruction of civilian infrastructure that disrupts access to healthcare, education, humanitarian aid, food and water systems. Through data and regular reporting, the Explosive Weapons Monitor aims to provide independent analysis of the human cost of the use of explosive weapons, and to advance the global recognition and understanding of their humanitarian consequences.

Explosive Weapons Monitor 2024

This report takes stock of harm to civilians from the use of explosive weapons across the globe in 2024 and identifies state and non-state actors reportedly responsible for this use. The report finds that harm to civilians and civilian infrastructure remains alarmingly high, with widespread and severe consequences on civilians across the world. It therefore remains a critical humanitarian priority to bring the Political Declaration into effect and for states to commit to limit the use of explosive weapons in populated areas to prevent and reduce harm to civilians. 

Explosive Weapons Monitor 2023

This report takes stock of harm to civilians from the use of explosive weapons across the globe in 2023 and identifies the state and non-state actors reportedly responsible for this use. It also reports on actions taken by states towards addressing this harm to civilians through the universalization and implementation of the Political Declaration. As harm to civilians from the use of explosive weapons continues to cause widespread devastation and suffering to civilians, it remains a critical humanitarian priority to bring the Declaration into effect to prevent and reduce harm to civilians.

Explosive Weapons Monitor 2021-2022: Two Years of Global Harm to Civilians From the Use of Explosive Weapons

The Explosive Weapons Monitor presents in 'Two Years of Global Harm to Civilians from the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas (2021-2022)' its findings on the patterns of harm to civilians from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas, as shown in its first two years of data collection on incidents of explosive weapon use and casualties, including deaths and injuries, and incidents of explosive weapon use affecting aid access, education, and healthcare in 2021 and 2022. The findings of this report are supplemented with incident reports compiled from open sources from Ukraine, Myanmar, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Syria, and Ethiopia.
